MINIFIGURES
Let’s start off with Professor Remus lupin. For his hair it is brown and looks like a Beatles haircut. He has alternate faces one with him smiling with some scratches on his face. Then the other one has him with yellow eyes. If I had to guess Lego was trying to make it look like he is turning into a werewolf. On his torso he has a nice kind of rugged old suit [I think they did a good job]. For his pants they have a nice dark tan color. No leg print but I don’t mind. He is also holding a wand.
Next, we have a dementor. Before I start this one, I have to say I think a dementor is like a mix of a ghost and a zombie. For the head well it’s all black except for the mouth which [for all you Star Wars fans out there] looks like an overhead view of the Sarlacc Pit except its gray and black. He is also wearing a black hood. For the torso it looks like he is spewing guts and you can see his ribs except it’s all black. He also has a black cape with holes in it. For the legs well there not really legs their more like the genie from Aladdin’s legs except black. Overall, I think Lego didn’t have a lot to work with and I think they did a great job with this figure.
The next figure is the trolley witch. As for her hair, it is gray and curly. She has alternate faces one has her smiling with a bunch of wrinkles [because she is old]. Then the other one is the same thing except she is screaming. Her torso has a maroon sweater and a pink shirt. And for her pants there just gray. I don’t really like this figure, but it is an exclusive figure to the set, and it was important to have.
Next up we have Ron Weasley. He has longish red hair that goes down to around his neck. He has alternate faces one with him smiling and has a bunch of freckles. Then the other one is the same except screaming [maybe about to cry]. For his torso he is wearing a red shirt and a plaid sweatshirt. For his pants there just blue but they’re shorter because he is supposed to by younger. Overall, I like this figure I think they did a good job with it.
Next on the list is Hermione Granger. Her hair is long and brown and goes down to about her shoulders. She has alternate faces one with her smiling and the other one is a worried face. For her torso she is wearing a gray sweatshirt with yellow, blue and purple stripes. For her pants they are a dark tan color [the same color as professor lupin] but also shorter because she is supposed to be younger. Overall, I like this figure they did a great job with it.
Lastly the moment you’ve all been waiting for the star of the show Harry Potter! He has black shaggy hair about down to his neck. He has alternate faces the first one has him smiling [with his legendary scar]. The other one is the same except he is screaming. For his torso he is wearing a plaid shirt and a blue sweatshirt. For his pants they are gray [the same color as the trolley witch] but shorter because he is supposed to be younger. Overall, I love this figure Lego did a great job.
THE BUILD
Let’s start off with the platform itself. Try to imagine this it’s kind of half muggle and half wizard. The “divider” is the wall between platform 9 and 10. On the muggle side its just your average British train station. there is a sine on the wall that says Kings Cross [the name of the station]. There is also a bridge with a nice roman numeral clock that brings you to basically nothing, just some room under the stairs.
For the wizard side. This may not make sense but in the Harry Potter books in order to get to the wizard side you have to run into the wall that is in between platform 9 and 10 which brings you to the wizard train station platform9 ¾ . In platform 9 ¾ there is a sine on the wall that says Platform 9 ¾ Hogwarts Express. It also has a wanted poster on the wall for a guy named Sirius Black and a news paper stand with the daily profit [which is a harry potter newspaper]. There is also room for the Hogwarts Express to pull into Platform 9 ¾. Overall, I like the actual platform I think its pretty good. One thing they could have done is ad more space on the other side of the platform but otherwise I think Lego did a great job. Now onto the Hogwarts Express
Now the second part of the build The Hogwarts Express. Let’s start with the steam engine. Its red and black and on the front, it says Hogwarts Express 5972. On the top there is just your average light smokestack and bell. For the wheels there are two small ones, and three big ones wilt that bar thing that moves when the back-wheel moves. Just telling you both sides are identical so don’t be surprised when I only due one side. On the side there is mostly red except a panel in the middle that says Hogwarts Express. Also, right under window where the conductor sticks his head out it says 5972. I really like the engine because it is red and red is my favorite color.
Next up is the coal car. The coal car can connect to the engine. On both sides it says Hogwarts railway and you can open the top and poot something in there. I think Lego did a good job.
Now the last car is the passenger car. I’m not going to say a lot about this car, and you will see why. So, this is basically your average passenger car. It’s all red except for the roof that’s black and on both sides, it has the Hogwarts on the side.
I love this car Lego did a great and, but you’ll see why.
THE PLAY FEATURES
Let’s start off with the train. So, there’s not a lot you can do with the first two cars but there are a few things. With the engine you can poot someone in the drivers set and pretend they are driving. For the coal car you can put the passenger’s luggage in there.
Now for my favorite car the passenger car there is a lot of play features. Just for starters you can take off the roof and one of the walls, so it is easier to play with. Remember the trolley witch well her trolley can fit right in between the two groups of seats. Lastly you can put the figures in the seats and have them ride the train all the way to Hogwarts.
For Platform 9 ¾ there’s not a lot of play features, there’s only two. The first one is you can make Harry Ron and Hermione walk through the wall and the second one is you can have them walk over the bridge.
Now I saved one big thing for last, the thing that tied the not for me. You can drive it around! Yes, you can move it around and imagine up a story.
MY OPINION
In my opinion this is an amazing set it has great figures and build, and it is pretty easy. So, if you’re looking for a set that is a fun build and fun to play with than this is the set for you
HAVE A NICE DAY
